This year Niranjana Orphan Hostel welcomed five new young boys to their growing family.



Monu Kumar is 11 years old. His father died due to illness and his mother is a house wife who does some part time work at a small NGO. He has three brothers. Monu's mother wanted to give him a good education but they are a very poor family and she has had difficulty just providing him with enough food and clothing, let alone sending him to school. Monu’s home town is Jaridih, Bokaro, on the way to Kolkata, but he has been living with a relative in Bakrour village. Monu is in Class 4 at Niranjana Public Welfare School and has settled in well to life at the Niranjana Orphan Hostel. Monu loves reading and enjoys to study and when he grows up he dreams of being a pilot.

Nitish Kumar is 11 years old and comes from Bakrour village. Nitish lost his father to cancer and his mother is a house wife who was trying to support him, his two brothers and one sister. Their family is very poor and after encouragement from some people in her village, she came to Niranjana Public Welfare Trust to see if the Trust could help to educate and look after Nitish. Nitish is in Class 1 at Niranjana Public Welfare School and he loves to read and when he grows up he dreams of being a pilot.

Baijnath Kumar is 12 years old and comes from Bakrour village. Baijnath’s mother was diagnosed with a paralysis disease when he was seven and two years ago she died from her illness. Baijnath’s father battled alcohol addiction for a number of years. He was a plumber but most of his earnings were spent on alcohol. Baijnath father died one year ago from stomach disease. Baijnath has one brother and three sisters. Since Baijnath was young he has looked after the families animals, so he has received no education.
Baijnath is very excited now he is at Niranjana Orphan Hostel and he is enjoying the meditation and Hare Krishna Japa at the hostel and loving the food they have each day. His best friend at the hostel is Vicky. Baijnath is in Class 2 at school and when he grows up he wants to be a doctor.

Lalit Kumar is 11 years old and comes from Bakrour village. Lalit’s father died and his mother is a house wife. Lalit has two brothers and two sisters. Lalit’s family are very poor and his mother works hard but struggles to provide them with enough food and to pay for their education.The family lives in a very small home which does not provide the children with a very good study environment. Lalit is in Class 2 at Niranjana Public Welfare School, he loves to read and one day he wants to be a doctor.

Jitendra Kumar is 10 years old and comes from Bakrour village. His mother died and his father works as a labourer in a different city. After his mother passed away, Jitendra’s father did not visit very often or take very good care of him and his two brothers and one sister, so Jitendra grandmother took over their care. She is a very poor elderly woman and she wants the best for Jitendra so she asked Niranjana Public Welfare Trust if they could help.Jitendra has settled well into a new life at the Hostel. He is in Class 2 at school and he wants to be an engineer when he grows up.
